Shimmerstar paced back and forth in front of the river, on edge after hearing about Ashflame's encounter with both Whitestar and Bloodstar. She dug her claws into the dull ground, gritting her teeth. Her tail lashed and her fur bristled. It was only a matter of time before they resorted to brute force. They'd been rejected too many times. They'd probably learned that persuasive words couldn't sway anyone, no matter how close they came to doing so.

"Shimmerstar? Are you okay?"

It was Stripestar. His eyes gleamed with concern, his expression unreadable. She nodded quickly. She just wanted to shriek, or at least vent everything out.
However, Stripestar didn't seem convinced,

"Reedpelt wasn't lying when he said you were a horrible liar."

Shimmerstar scoffed at him, her fur beginning to lie flat again,

"It's nothing important, I'm just frustrated. It's only a matter of time until the Dark Forest begin to use brute force as their main tactic against us. You know it's not like StarClan to get involved in fighting."

Stripestar sighed, sitting beside her. He flicked his ears, staring into the river,

"I know. It won't be long before they begin attacking, either us or the Clans. I hope you're aware you're most likely their main target, Shimmerstar. You've interfered with nearly all of their plans."

"I'm well aware that they're targeting me. Whitestar knows that besides a few others, I'm one of the few that will not hesitate in attacking him. He knows what I'm capable of, and he's making a smart move by going after me."

Stripestar sighed,
"I must admit that, yes, he's made a smart choice."

"He knows my weakest point as well," she murmured, "He knows that I fear the loss of my Clan's loyalty to me. He knows that, even if it takes time, he can make me snap."

She heard Stripestar mutter a reply, but she couldn't understand a word he had said.

"Did you say something?"

He looked slightly alarmed, his fur rising to a slight bristle and muscles tensed. Quickly, though, he relaxed. A small smile stretched across his face and he slightly shook his head,

"No. But you have a point."

Is that all he had to say? She asked herself, No, of course not.

Her eyes were slightly narrowed, but she slowly returned the nod, never taking her eyes off of him,

"Are you sure?"

He hastily responded, eyes widened slightly,

"Of course."

He replied too quickly.

"You're a horrible liar, I hope you know that," she chuckled.

He sighed, shoulders slumping,

"Alright alright, you got me. I guess we're bad liars in crime. I was planning on letting you figure it out yourself.. but now's not a time to be messing around. All I'm going to say is, you know that Whitestar cannot stand watching you mentally snap. You should have seen him, those long moons ago. Before he appeared to you, he was driving everyone mad with his constant complaining about your behavior. It took him some coaxing, but we finally convinced him to just go to you."

She tilted her head, puzzled. What did he mean? He exhaled slowly, shaking his head as he spoke,

"You'll figure it out. Now if you excuse me, I have to go speak to Timeflyer."

"Uh.. have fun with that," she muttered as he padded away.}
